Waste LDPE is generated from household, industrial, commercial, and agriculture sources. First it is subjected to metal and optical sorting to coloured and transparent. Then, sorted LDPE stream is washed and flakes are formed through shredding and grinding. Finally, extrusion follows to transform flakes into pellets. The activity starts with the reception of post-consumer, unsorted waste LDPE at the recycling facility. The activity ends with the production of recycled plastics in the form of pellets up to the factory gate. The process includes input of waste plastic to be recycled, the recycled output, energy consumption, material inputs for the washing process, water consumption, infrastructure, waste generation, onsite wasteawater treatment, and emissions to air and water.
